| “Women want to keep in touch not only with their families, but also with the world around them: apart from their make-up, keys and photos of their children, they need to carry their mobile phone, laptop, personal organiser and even a digital camera. | |

| Until now, a purpose-made bag designed to hold, transport and protect all these day-to-day objects did not exist. The Youps came from the desire to offer women a new alternative; the possibility to use the same bag to transport everything they needed, without having to compromise on style and elegance”, Karine Arabian explains. | |
In padded brown leather, adorned with fine gold metal lines, the Youps conceals a vast selection of multiple compartments inside in order to keep everything tidy and find everything in an instant. |

| She openly describes herself as a free and active woman, always busy. She has successfully fought to win her place in the traditionally very masculine world of leather goods. There is no doubt that Karine Arabian is a woman of her time. | |

| Her Armenian background and family history are already well known (her grandfather was a bootmaker and her father a tailor). This is what gave her a taste for fine materials and beautiful lines. She showed talent very early on, winning a prize at the Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival in 1993, then seduced Swarowski and Chanel with her work, before going on to set up her own line of accessories, bags, shoes and jewellery in 2000. | |
| After nearly eight years running her own design house, the designer has not lost any of her uniqueness. | |
| “The starting point for my designs often illustrates something that I am experiencing at that moment, and every collection teaches me something about myself and helps me to progress. It’s all about femininity: in my designs I try to combine strong and powerful aesthetics with elements that interest women, whilst avoiding anything that carries too strong a connotation. | |
| Accessories accompany our everyday lives as well as extraordinary moments and they are often an extension of our body, our thoughts and our memory. I try to interpret women’s energy whilst making them more beautiful, more elegant and above all, more self-confident.” | |
| Karine Arabian’s work reflects the very contemporary focus of someone who connects fashion to aspects of sociology. So there is nothing surprising in her having managed so successfully to combine comfort, luxury and elegance in designing the unique concept of the Youps. | |
